"The Changing Winds Cultural Society"

The Miss, Jr. Miss and Little Miss Indian Oklahoma City Competition and Performance is held each March and is sponsored by
"The Changing Winds Cultural Society" under the direction of Ms. Shirley Wapskineh. Changing Winds was established in 1992 and is
dedicated to provide an opportunity for Indian Youth to experience leadership roles in the community and to create an awareness of the
potential of American Indian Youth as leaders.

The competition and performance is not a beauty pageant. Winners are selected according to their knowledge in the various
aspects of the tribes in which they represent. Consideration is given to how the young ladies carry themselves, their potential
leadership qualities, and how they will serve for the next year in their new titles as roll models to other native youth. The title
winners will represent their tribes, all native people and last but not least Changing Winds Cultural Society in performances and
appearances throughout the year to many people and organizations within and outside of the Native American Community.
